With over 40 years of service in the Queensland Fire & Emergency Services, this retired fire commander has faced it all—he’s been shot at, spat on, and even accused of corruption, all while risking his life to protect others. His journey has taken him over cliffs, through burning floors, and into countless fires, including some of the most intense bushfires Queensland and other regions have seen.
Rising through the ranks, he has operated in prominent roles such as Brisbane City Fire Commander, Regional Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner of Safety & Risk Management, and Director of Operational Performance Improvement.
His expertise has led him to chair National Fire Safety Committees, represent Australian fire services internationally, and earn prestigious awards, including the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) for leadership, the Australian Fire Protection Medal and the Australian Centenary Medal for community service.
